Roman's Revenge feat. Eminem (Romans 2:4)

Catchy title? I thought so... And sorry to disappoint everyone but this post is not about Nicki Minaj... But I figured everything that Nicki Minaj is featured on becomes a hit (The Midas Tou... well... let's try The Minaj Touch), so I'm trying that 2010 mentality out for my blog.

I really enjoy reading Romans in the Message and this is how Eugene Peterson translates 2:4, “Or did you think that because he's such a nice God, he'd let you off the hook? Better think this one through from the beginning. God is kind, but he's not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change.” 

God's kindness is meant to cause us to change. Often we use nagging, threats, or punishment as a way to change behavior. While these may bring temporary change they will not change someone’s attitude and therefore will not bring lasting change. God wants lasting change. He wants to change our hearts, knowing that once our hearts are right our behavior will follow. 

Jesus was very hard on the Pharisees because they only cared about outward appearances and he had this to say about them: “In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness” (Matthew 23:28).

God’s way of changing people is to show them kindness when they have done nothing to merit it. We cannot justify ourselves before a holy God, not with our penance, or our performance, or our sacrifice. When we are confronted with God’s amazing grace and fully realize that we are recipients of the most undeserved mercy, we are humbled. Humbled because we know we have not done anything that is worthy of God’s favour and then…we change. Change because we are so grateful and want to please the One who has shown us such great love.

My Biggest Weakness

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. James 1:19-20


Generally we become angry when we are blocked from obtaining something that is important to us. To hold onto our peace and avoid getting angry it is helpful to think about where we feel we are being blocked. If we have unreasonable expectations, we set ourselves up to have these expectations blocked. If we take on responsibilities that belong to other people, we won’t be able to control the outcome and our desires will be blocked. If we don’t listen to others we may find our plans blocked. 

Spiritually, by having a strong belief that God is in control, we know that nothing happens to us without his permission. Even when our desires are blocked, we know God’s are not. We can hold our peace because God’s purposes are bigger than our inconveniences.

i had a rough week. the idea that Gods plans for me are Soooooooooo much greater than my plans is the stupidest idea ever.  i think if God made me, then he made me to know what makes me happy, right? so why arent my plans and His plans the same/.? that is the stupidest....... it just pisses me off to no end.. God made me and knows my heart, he knows everything about me.... and im pretty sure that i know a lot about myself too... so why isnt my plan good enough for Him? and another thing, well nevermind, forget that..

i just dont understand this bullsh............. whatever. its not worth it,

Consider The Birds...

What does it take to make you content? What allows you to go to bed at night and not worry about tomorrow? Jesus does not want us overly concerned with things that are not of ultimate value to God. In fact, he wants us to know that we are of ultimate value to our Father, so we can trust him for the basics. We shouldn't be overly troubled with the basic needs of life. This doesn't mean we're to be irresponsible or freeloaders, it does mean that we should develop our sense of values so that the focus of our life is not on material needs. As God has declared us of ultimate value by sending his Son to redeem us, we commit to pursue what is of ultimate value -- the Father and his Kingdom. When we do that, the necessities will fall into place. Want proof? Look at the birds which regularly receive God's care and we're worth a whole lot more to him than they are!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" - Matthew 6:26 

Define The Great Line

Want to be great? Want to do something great? Want to be remembered? Want to be a legend? Want to be the best? 

He must become greater; I must become less. 

John 3:30

Want to be great? Want to do something great? 


Then live so that others will live and know more of Jesus and less of you. 

 

Love

Do you know and believe the Love God has for us? Some people don’t know the love of God, they only know the God of wrath who punishes sins, others don’t even know this about God. And while there are some who have heard that God is love, they don’t know the love of God, and what’s more to the point, they don’t believe it either.

You see, if you really know the Love of God in Jesus Christ, you also believe, you believe because the love of God in Jesus Christ is transforming. For God creates faith, it is part of his great gift of love. God’s love transforms, it may accept us, just as we are, but it also knows what we are to be, and works to shape us, to that by grace through faith we might grow in the new life that is ours in Jesus Christ, and might grow into all that a child of God is, by the grace of God. For our life is not static, we are always in becoming, changing from one thing to another, being changed from sinner into saint, by the love of God in Jesus Christ.

If we love, because God first loved us, we also believe, because first, God believed in us, believed in us enough to send His only Son to suffer and die for our sins, that we might be born again, and that we might have forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. 

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.

And If Our God Is For Us...

          Chris Tomlin released his 7th studio album yesterday titled And If Our God Is For Us.... The album title is a lyric taken from his popular song and the opening track on the album. That song is based on the scripture Romans 8:31. Paul goes on in the next couple of verses to explain how God is the one who justified us (Romans 8:33) and Jesus is the one who died for us (Romans 8:34) so in reality who can bring an accusation against us. This is so important to understand. So many people miss it in life if they do not understand the extent of God's love towards them. Jude tells us to keep ourselves in the love of God (Jude 1:21) because he knew that having this revelation equips the saints to be powerful in the kingdom.
          It is amazing to me to know that God chose me and called me to be his child. It is amazing to know he died for me and sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for me. It is amazing to know that nothing can separate me from his love. Understanding this will empower you to overcome any obstacle you face. Understanding this will release you from the fear that keeps you in chains.

 "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?" Romans 8:31-35

God Is Up To Something...

"for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."   jeremiah 29:11

We all experience obstacles and go through life's trials. When we find ourselves in these situations we must not give up. We must do our part and continue living and being fruitful. God does have a plan for us but His plan might not be on our timing. We must pray to God and when we do, He will listen and He will reveal His Son to us. We must seek Him with all of our hearts. Then and only then will we find Him through Christ and He will bring us out of our captivity to experience the plans He has for us. And finally, God does indeed want us to live an abundant life here on earth but the true plans He has for us will be realized when we meet Him in Heaven.

You might think you've picked a scene but you haven't. The real one's far too mean. The watered down one, the one you know, was made up centuries ago. It made it sound all wack and corny. Yes, it's awful blasted boring. Twisted Fiction! Sick Addiction! Well gather 'round children!                              Zip it!        LISTEN!!!

 This will be my second blog attempt of the year 2010... my Tumblr didn't catch on like I hoped it would, hopefully this will be different.
